It's gonna get out anyway. I understand waiting and letting him assess if he needs to stay elsewhere for a while for his own safety. But there's been time for that.
Thing that concerns me more now is that there were reports of protesters saying the name of the officer (or the name they think is the officer) earlier today. If that name is wrong, they need to make sure the right name is out there
