there was a story I read about a king or something who got very very sick and they wanted him to stay alive until he could have a son. And at that time, the most powerful curative objects were believed to be relics from saints or those expected to be saints. So they went and got Soon To Be St. Francis of Assisi's corpse, who had died quasi-recently, and plopped it in bed next to the dying king.
It did not work.
