the good: the "beginner" mode they added kicks ass for people who aren't very good (like young kids). my daughter is great on the guitar - but she just loves to hit the drums. the rest of us played all day today and she played on beginner mode and it doesn't cause us to fail. *great* addition.
the bad: I'm not sure how much you keep from your kids in the way of music, but Blink 182's "Dammit" is one of the songs, and some of the lyrics are not really kid-friendly. Korn's "Freak on a Leash" (although it is censored), and Beastie Boys "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn" ('M.C.A.'s in the back because he's sleezin' with a whore'), stuff like that.
Otherwise, we spent about 9 - 10 hours today playing songs together. It was great for our family.
