the union is complicated, there's about 400 years of history. James VI/I unified the crowns in ~1600, and there's the acts of union ~1700,

and probably others. if Scotland goes republic, they'll be dissolving the union, and likely getting rid of the crown altogether. if they decide to keep the monarchy for whatever reason, and the queen accepts, she'd just become the queen of Scotland as well. She's already Queen of like 15 or 16 separate countries.
