STIS -- Need help configuring network on my roommate's new laptop

It's running Vista, and it cannot see either of the other two laptops on the network, both which are running XP. The laptops that are running XP *can* see the laptop running Vista. How do I fix this?
Responses:
Aside from A) ensuring the PCs are in the same workgroup, and B) manually typing in the UNC ( \\MachineName\ ) I can't think of anything.
