when I have suggested to my clients that I might be a little behind schedule it seems permission to be an hour behind themselves

I mean I plan to arrive 20-30 min before and when Im running late it means I'l be there only 5 or 10 before, but I swear if I tell them that they won't be ready for an hour even though I'm right on time enough for it not to have mattered.
so now I call them when I'm 20 min out that I'll be along shortly
