I have no clue why there was a (fake?) t-rex in London or who the robots were. Yes, there were passing comments on the origins of both but not so I could understand. I kept expecting them both to be tied together with a better explanation at the end. And where did the Doctor go before he came back for Clara?
Capaldi was OK. Problem for me is I've seen him in other roles, enough so I know who he is and his acting range. Eccleston (mostly), Tennant & Smith were new to me so I didn't have expecations. I've been watching Capaldi as Cardinal Richelieu in Musketeers so it's hard not to make comparisons of style of acting. And was it just me or did his Scottish accent go soft and strong at odd times?
I'm not a big fan of Coleman. She's just there. And, again, there's the comparison to the Dalek episode where her character was more compelling than Clara is.
Overall, not a great Who episode but then it's not the first Doctor Who episode where I felt that there was a lot going on and yet not enough exposition.
And if they're going to keep bringing back characters (Vastra, Daleks) I want them to bring back Captain Jack!
