My daughter and I enjoyed our trip to Chicago Comic Con. Though calling it a *comic* con is a HUGE stretch.

Artist Alley was pretty much a bunch of small press people. I think I recognized 6, maybe 7 names.

We very, very, very briefly met Matt Smith at a photo op. He was very friendly, but we had all of about 45 seconds of time. I did get to thank him for "being *our* Doctor" (meaning my and my daughter's) and he seemed genuinely pleased to hear that and thanked us for coming out to support him.

If you'r not a Whovian you may not get the whole "our Doctor" thing. My Doctor growing up was Tom Baker. For my daughter it'll be Matt Smith. And watching his run was something we did together.

I should have the photo taken up on FB tomorrow.

My daughter also got to meet Evan Peters and he was very pleasant. She had a photo-op with him and then later was able to get that photo signed. Again, the encounter was very brief, but he was engaged and attentive and she was extremely pleased to meet him. "He shook my hand!"

The VAST majority of the day was spent waiting in line for those two photo-ops and the autograph. None of the programming looked interesting to me so we didn't attend any of that.

I went to the after party which was held in the Hyatt where we stayed, right across from the convention.

I'm too old for that shit. Loud dance music ain't my thing. And loud meant no chance at conversation. Married meant no chance (or desire) to hook up, either, so what was the point? :-)

I think if I do a con in Chicago again, it'll be C2E2. They seem to have a much, much bigger roster of guests and focus a lot more on comics than on media.
