OK, ready, I am going to partially agree with you. Ready?

I think sometimes people debate certain specific things in music, and they get confused for something else. So, if MTV or The Source debates "the hottest MC ever" and names Biggie #2, what they are saying is skill-wise (which I know you don't agree with, but hear me out). But then that gets extrapolated to "2nd most important person in rap ever", and that just simply isn't true. It might have been if he'd been allowed to live into his late 20s, but he wasn't.

But I will also say this: even though he only made 2 albums, I can learn something and/or be amazed by something Big does lyrically or stylistically on almost every track he recorded. To my ear, he added some real important lyrical flourishes that were never there before, one of the most impressive to me is being so "mush-mouthed" as people keep claiming, and yet also having impeccable rhythm, flow, and timing. Impeccable. He dances through beats as though they aren't even there, and yet never misplaces a word. It is incredible for me to listen to.
