people are unlikely to change their minds about players until after several years. The perceptions about Sam's speed have remained in spite of a preseason wherein he was one of 9 players to garner at least 3 sacks. All 8 other players made the final rosters for their teams. In other words, Sam had THE most productive preseason of any NFL pass rusher currently without a job.
The fact that he wasn't picked up is problematic from a football perspective. Gay rights activists have an argument here. I understand his not making the Rams. He got outplayed by a UDFA. Not making any roster is difficult to defend.
