I suspect the fact that it is far far easier and cheaper to buy singles now than it has been in 20+ years will mean that there are plenty of people who will just buy the one song instead of buying the full album (especially in the pop genre), and there is probably no good way to get those sales back.
I fear for the future of the album. Technology sort of created it, and now I am afraid technology might take it away.
