My only comment is that Spider-Man and Transformers did not underperform. Both behaved as expected in North America.

And Transformers, in particular, is a huge cash cow overseas.

Exhibitors are the ones who took it on the chins. The overwhelming majority of movies distributed this summer were ultimately profitable.

I think it was the head of NATO who warned that 2015 would be tough for theater owners because studios are just saturating the summer.

I don't think studio want films out of theatres as fast as possible, but more they want to make as much money as they can as quickly as they can.

And things like Cap 2 doing 250mil and GotG doing 325mil isn't going to help sway them to space releases out.
