I think it was the head of NATO who warned that 2015 would be tough for theater owners because studios are just saturating the summer.

More tentpole movies = shorter release windows = small revenues for theater owners since they get a bigger cut the longer a movie is in theaters. The studios want them out of theaters ASAP so they can turn the movie around on digital right away. It's just another case of big companies going for the fast buck. The studios are going all out with no thought for the eventual consequences. In that sense, the HR article is spot on. But I feel the author doesn't realize this. Ironically, I feel if studios were allowed to own theater chains again, the market would improve.
