I don't think studio want films out of theatres as fast as possible, but more they want to make as much money as they can as quickly as they can.

If movies were to make tons opening weekend, then go on to have incredible legs, studios would love that. It's just not their priority, but still 30% of a leggy film's grosses is not something studios ignore.
