Here's what you need to know. Spader plays an international criminal ("Red")who was on the FBI most wanted list. He turns himself in and makes a deal: In exchange for his freedom, he will give them the names on the so called Blacklist, the baddest international criminals in the world. However, he will only talk with one FBI agent, Liz Keene. She's a young profiler. He clearly knew her as a child, but won't say how. The obvious speculation is that he is her father, but that would be the stupidest writing ever. We don't know yet.
Meanwhile, Lizzie discovered, through Red, that her husband Tom was actually a spy and she was his target. He is on the run now.
