You don't need a converter, only the adapter. Almost all modern electronics can handle 110v or 240v.

Otherwise they'd have to build two different types of power bricks. This way, they build one and use it everywhere.
Note: electric razors and hair dryers are the exception to this rule. They can catch fire if you use them without a converter.
