Not watching, but caught a bit of Forever while switching channels. I think the writers didn't think of the consequences of the premise (spoilers)

I switch by the show and the bad guy has a knife held to Horatio Hornblower dude's throat. If I understand the premise, Horatio can't die. So where's the dramatic tension of his "life being in danger?"
