It was the best film I saw last year. (spoilers)

Among other things it's a film about teaching, about the moral position of being a teacher, and we see one character who rises to this problem (that's why the seen in which she witnesses one child hitting another matters, and why her exchange with the homeless man matters), and we see another character who teaches and yet doesn't rise to the problem. If you like Mike Leigh's films and his talent for giving attention to things most films either ignore or are unaware of, these same features are on display here in spades.
I found its depiction of the mundane quality of violence between strangers to be really haunting.
