repost for the night crew: Dear ST Family, Our beloved dog, Brody, passed away on September 29th at 1:15am. He was 14 - 1/2 years old.

Brody passed away outside on our lawn next to the rose garden under a beautiful, starlit night. He died from heart disease and was surrounded by his family. His final act was to come over to me and lay his head on my foot. His last days were happy and full of love.

Brody was buried on Monday at the Wassenaar Pet Cemetery in a beautiful rural area outside of Hamilton, which is very peaceful and scenic, and with a small school and a Christmas tree farm on the property. He is resting in a beautiful area under a huge maple tree. I have attached a couple of photos of his final resting place, and a photo of him taken a few days before his death when he was having fun and smiling in our home office.

We, including our other Sheltie, Blue, loved Brody very much and miss him terribly. He was a brave and strong dog who always protected and cared for us, and we will love and miss him always. In fact, I had trouble getting Blue to leave the grave until I told him that Brody is having a big, big, big, big sleep and won't be coming home with us.

This what we've asked to have on his marker ...

BRODY RODEN
March 20, 2000 - Sept. 29, 2014
Sheltie extraordinaire - Mommy's baby, Daddy's boy, Blue's Protector
Brave as a lion, caring as a nurse, stubborn as a goat.
We will forever love our little bear who turned us into a family.
