as I said, wasn't solely directed at you. and it's a button-pusher for me. so human!

also, and unrelated:

so sorry about your kitty. I have been there, and it's so very hard.

my advice would be that if you think you can keep it together and not be so upset it will upset kitty, being with her is the way to go. petting her, talking to her, sending her off with love.

if you think you can't KIT enough/can't wait until she's passed to lose it, and that upset might not help her stay calm, then maybe don't be there.

the doctor should give a sedative first, letting you pet and love ahead of the actual event, in any case; and you can exit for the end and come back later, if you want.

(just went through this for one of my mom's kitties this summer. my sister and I stayed, and it was just perfect.)
