Have I said yet that I am glad you are back? :)
Just some info I couldn't get out last night.
My kitty is losing weight and hyperthyroid is the cause. Also some kidney issues. The medicine to slow her thyroid has made her extremely picky on food. So some days she eats nothing. Not good when you are trying to get her to keep weight on. She is very boney right now. We feel ribs, her spine, her hips. But she's still acting fine (so we don't think she is uncomfortable yet.
So I have found that she just hates her cat food. Even the cans she used to love. So in our last ditch attempt to stall this thing as long as we can. I have gotten creative. Ground hamburger was first. Uncooked because cooked was a no go. It worked for a few days. Then I went with ground buffalo. Then lamb. Today I got some raw salmon. The salmon was a huge hit. She ate more this afternoon than she has in a long time.
So, we are prolonging the inevitable. But days like today are highs and of course there are the lows. Yesterday was one. She didn't eat anything yesterday, even the buffalo/hamburger/lamb. Nothing.
The other funny thing about this. For 15 years she has had rules. Jump on the kitchen counter and you get squirted with the bad kitty bottle. No sitting on our laps while we eat dinner. Things like that. Well a few months ago we just started letting her do whatever she wants. Last night she was on my lap as I ate dinner. She is getting treated like a little queen as if she wasn't already. She is getting spoiled and we are just taking it one day at a time.
It's amazing how fast time goes.
Blah, I just had a lot to say. Thanks for posting about her and the good thoughts.
