The vet says he expects her to return to feeling good and healthy.

Yeah, we asked about her quality and he said if we can get the kidney working with medicine she will be happy and healthy with a controlled illness that isn't going away but will be kept in check.
If she was going to suffer it would have been a decision the other way for sure. That we agreed on. That is what we thought we prepared for when we left to go to the vet.
