I think some people expand the movie to think it is making a statement on men and women in general (spoilers)

"Men are generally good hearted doofuses who make mistakes. They're inattentive and cheat. But that's because women are grudge holding super villains who will go to extreme lengths to punish their men for any perceived slight."
I think that some people are taking these characters as if they are supposed to be representative members of their genders. I don't feel this way, but that's the read I'm getting from people who do.
