I never thought that the ending of The Thing was ambiguous. There's an implication that the remaining 2 characters are going to sit there and basically wait to die in the cold before help ever arrives. That being said, i've seen things that pretty convincingly suggest that Russell's character was 'infected' from pretty early on. I find the 'actual' ending of the movie the most ambiguous, showing a wolf / dog running . . .
and as far as "the director's cut" of Blade Runner goes, it's pretty much been confirmed in recent years that Dechard was in fact a replicant himself. "the dream sequence" involving the unicorn is a strong indicator of an implanted memory that is pretty much confirmed later by the origami unicorn.
