a connection, but I didn't want to get into a serious relationship. I wanted to play the field a bit more because I felt I hadn't done enough of that (I was in a long relationship in college). So she's kind of throwing herself at me and I'm deflecting in part because I just have this feeling it will be serious (but I can also sense some issues) and she finally says "that's it. I give up. If you don't want to give this a try, I'm done trying." I respond that I don't want anything serious and she counters that she's not looking for serious either so let's just have fun and see where it goes. I'm persuaded and we're together for the next 20 years. Had I held my ground life would have taken a completely different path (for better or worse, and I had some of each as it was).
