It was at this retro roots music bar in South Pasadena with a dance floor... I totally want to go back!
But the truth is we would have gone anywhere our friend Mark was playing. He is the drummer for the Big Butter Jazz Band, the band of the night who play a lively ragtime. As it turns out, neither of us had seen them play before, so I had my misgivings at first (Mark's other band is a more fifties jazz standards band that we had seen before).
Well, we're glad Mark made the switch, because everybody ended up having a blast. Different groups of friends got to meet each other and make new friends - which for me is one of the best parts of the whole evening. I mean finally! I know these different groups for years and they finally get to know each other and they hit it off. I was in dry martini heaven.
Gossip time: Everyone thinks my friend Donna and I are a poitential item... I wish! We are friends that are "In another life..." compatible. I like her a lot and she sure pays a lot of attention to me. She's married with a 13 year old kid. As friends, we know everything about each other and we have a lot in common. I've never met her husband, she never brings him out for these things. I don't know why.
On paper, I should be pursuing our mutual friend Stacey, but I'm just not attracted to her. That's kind of a pity, she's the most eligible bachelorette I know and guys go crazy for her. As a friend, Donna keeps telling me I need to be with someone and she was telling me Stacey wants to dance...
