b. i'm going to add my .02 cents here, but there's more to GamerGate that these articles aren't even mentioning, which is really, part of the problem.

I don't consider myself a "gamer," and, as a decent human being this should really go without saying, I find any and all threats against Zoe Quinn or Sarkeesian disgusting, vile, pick your adjective.
One part of GamerGate these stories aren't covering:
Quinn, who is one of the female focal points in all this, claims to be for getting more women involved in gaming, yet Quinn had a hand in getting a group that was trying to get more female developers involved basically nuked, and she released personal information about one of the male members running it, after which he received death threats. The group was Fine Young Capitalists, and they were running a competition where female developers only could submit game "ideas" to them, and the winners would get their ideas fleshed out and developed into an actual playable game; they'd get 8% of the profits with the rest going to charity. Quinn thought this was exploitative and threatened to basically run the contest down to anyone who would listen. So here's a self-proclaimed feminist, who wants more female game developers in the industry, sabotaging a contest to do exactly that. Now, one would think that this is newsworthy, but not one of the gaming sites covered the story at all. Which is where here cozy relationship with the writers of these sites comes in to play.
Again, there's some truly despicable shit going on, the threats, harassment, etc., but there's also some substance to some of the complaints being made, and the fact that these stories continue to be written so one sidedly, by the same sites that have shown a clear bias in the past, continues to fuel GamerGate.
Just my .02. :)
