it was a documentary about this avant garde director from the 60s and 70s who apparently got to the pre-production phase of doing Dune. He was pretty far out there. He cast himself in previous movies, had people crapping in bowls and looked to have his pre-teen son cast and running around naked in one of the films.
He has David Carradine, Orson Welles and Dali cast with Giger set to do the design work. His production team in fact apparently went on to do "Alien".
people who saw the 3K story boards said it was revolutionary. That instead of us annoying David by talking about Star Wars we'd be annoying him about Dune.
But at the last moment it fell through and he didn't direct anything ever again (although he apparently just started something).
I'm not sure how successful he would have been given the clips of the other movies I saw but then again PJACK pulled off "LotR". But as I said - the guy was and is a character. He was always talking about wanting to expand consciousness, etc.
