My point is that Marvel's first movie in the plan was a borderline bomb.

Man of Steel was not. It wasn't a hit, but it wasn't a bomb either. I don't Hannibal would love it when that plan came together unless RDJ saved the studio with his performance.
Plus, it's pretty obvious that Superman is gonna have to be very Boy Scouty in this upcoming film. If he loses his morals, there's no fight between him and Batman. Superman would just kill him, and it would over. So since there's a upcoming movie, he's got to be the Boy Scout again.
