I have one, it's great. Maybe the only downside is that it and its attachments are pricey, so you should only get the ones you know will use.

For a start, I'd only get the stand mixer if you are going to do a lot of dough-making for bread, pizza, baking, etc.
The pasta attachments make great fresh pasta, but they are very expensive.
The ice cream maker is a great attachment, if you make your own ice cream and like to experiment with flavours.
The meat grinder is excellent, and the sausage stuffer too - but you have to know where to buy sausage casings.
We have a chopper attachment, but we've barely used it. It's a lot easier just to use a knife. YMMV
