This was a great episode. My respect for Grohl, already very high, just grows. He's an appreciative historian of music.
If you notice, he gives the middle 20mins to some people and rarely if every is seen or heard. He really wants the audience to focus on what these folks are saying.
I found it fascinating to hear just how machine like C/W music is. How you're either a singer or a songwriter but rarely both. I loved how they went from talking about being an "outsider" right into their experience at the CMAs...I have no idea who these posers were on the CMAs they should performing but, I wanted them dropped from a plane.
I love the early bits of Willie Nelson.
