There's a bit of a chicken and the egg thing. Is he a "failure" because he's surrounded by Yes Men, or is he surrounded by Yes Men because he's a "failure"?

(I'm using "failure" very loosely here.)
He probably would do better with "better" people around him, but first he has to actually want to have those "better" people around him.
