Charles is just a new adventures guy. He *loves* Sorkin. (Good Wife season 5 spoilers)

He used to appear on NFL Network a lot (he's a diehard Ravens/Orioles fan), and praises Sorkin at every opportunity. The "ready for a change" commentary is just how he is. If you find Good Wife quotes from him from last year, you'll find the same stuff. He worked that job for five years, and actually wanted off of that show midway through year four. They talked him into staying longer to build the right story arc.
