I think the biggest problem for Dems in 2014 was that Obama and Obamacare are borderline swear words in a lot of the country.

It's hard to articulate a position when the biggest name in the party, and their biggest accomplishment are rejected by voters.
IMO, people will be a lot less freaked out aka used to it by 2016.
