and now I see that the kindle app asks for those, too; so probably others as well.

I do not recall seeing that for any "fun" iphone apps I've installed.
I'm sure work-related security apps see everything; but I think I would have noticed if anything personal did. I hardly ever use my iphone for calls, though. hrm.
