I totally understand the time commitment is not easy, especially if you are working, and have to devote an hour a night to just doing commands with the dog.

I would NEVER consider spending a grand, let alone 2, on dog training, unless it is a service dog.

The big key, as you mentioned, is staying devoted to it. Taking a dog to all the classes in the world will be useless unless you keep training at home -- nm - Shaun Nov 7, 09:41
