jenbro, from bb: the best, reduced-time oatmeal I've tried is McCann's quick & easy steel cut. (not their instant or quick cooking.)

I used to have to order 6 boxes at a time from Amazon (my only issue with that was the pressure of using it before it went stale - thatsalottaoaties! ;) -); but a couple of small local chains and then Whole Foods started carrying it a few years ago.

using a microwave, in ~5 minutes, it's almost exactly like long-cooking steel cut. there be magic in them.

I tried tj's and another frozen version; and, for me, they suffered from texture issues, in a punishment kind of way.
