(this seems to be a guy thing; but, sure, it could potentially apply to women, too.)

if you are in your office and you pass gas, one way or another, know that someone may well hear you, even if your desk is aways away from your door, and sometimes even if your door is closed.

the inner-boy satisfaction you may gain from the loudness of the sound is countered by the negative feelings of the hearer(s); and the positives of goodwill towards your coworker and/or underling will be tainted forevermore.

this also goes for gas passed via the mouth and various and assorted nasal/sinus/throat-type sounds.

*shudder*
