The problem, as I see it, isn't Leto as the Joker, but the Joker in the Suicide Squad movie.

Let's dismiss for a moment the notion that the Joker would be a member of this team. - even a forced member as the villains in the Suicide Squad usually are. Let's suppose he's the nemesis or it's just a cameo... Suicide Squad has always been action centric and the Joker - on film at least - has proven to be a deeply dark psychological villain. Having him appear in any capacity seems to not make sense.
