After S1, I skipped to S4 because a friend had told me that it picked up around that time, sort of like what you are saying. Also, I couldn't take Rory/Dean any more. UGH, Dean. That bit me in the ass at the end of S4 though. :) Now that I've gotten to the end, I'm going to watch what I skipped (S2-3).

I am sure that had I watched when it first aired, I would have liked Rory's boyfriends. I don't think I was impressed by any of them (although I seem to have skipped over most of Jess). Lorelai stuff that I wouldn't have related to in my early 20s (conflict with Emily, Christopher, Luke) was now part of what I liked best.

Also - this is probably just a throwaway line, just another snarky Lorelai moment, but I can't stop laughing when I think about her reading the story about Sniffy the dog on the menu during her first date with Luke.
