From what I've found online, it seems like a lot of people hated S7. I didn't at all - I liked it quite a bit. Maybe it's because I didn't hate Christopher the way that others seemed to (to a certain extent I think Lorelai and Christopher had more chemistry/were more suited for each other than Lorelai/Luke).
