Pippy, Diva, other San Francisco visitors - did you get to Alcatraz? Do you recommend?

Looks like I'd only be there from 8:00am to 5:00pm and figure maybe 9am to 3pm would be usable.

I've lived in the Bay Area at various times so have done wine country, bridges, etc., but never Alcatraz.
