they voted down the street for Maryland to not secede, thus allowing Washington DC to not be surrounded by the enemy which woulda been bad.
When eastern Marylanders (aka the larger farm/slave owners) had an issue, Lincoln suspended habeas corpus which is arguably the most treasonous action in American history.
