Your message and Spawn's message are different. Yes, Spawn is right. It's weird. No, it's no reason to weep for humanity.

Someone unusual has happened in a relatively small microcosm corner of the internet. It'll blow over quickly, very quickly. It's cute and engaging and adorable and quirky and a little bit scary (not Alex, although some might agree... but the incident itself). It shows the power of crowd sourcing to people still unfamiliar with the concept. More interesting is the company, Breakr, that claimed to have a hand in the rise of #alexfromtarget, and the backlash, which shows another side of the internet, the pseudo-vigilante side, or - more docile - the "self-correcting" side.
