That is the one thing that's hurting me, the upkeep. I'm not close to going broke but I'm losing about 75 or so an hour until I can get more citizens

I've cut off production of crystal completely and I've lowered my research and production a bit. But I know it's only temporary, especially if I'm not using my army and navy a lot. They're mostly for defense for now.
Having a military seems like it'll be easier to maintain later on in development when upkeep and costs drop thanks to research.
