I used my time at the gym to listen to Lorde's album. It was surprising.

I was ready to dismiss it as "a lot of the same" and it does start that way. It's true in the sense that frankly she doesn't have much range in her singing style. But the content of the songs seems to vary widely. She proved to be very much like a Taylor Swift with edge and substance. Sure, there was a lot of disillusionment, as you'd expect from the singer of "Royals", but also songs of love and loss and even joy. In that context, suddenly even "Team" doesn't sound so much like just more of "Royals" any more. I'm glad I had an opportunity to listen to the album.
