Watching the local news in Texas, there is a (state level) fight over social studies books and none of the 100 have been approved so far.

Among the issues with the books (all of them) are the treatment of climate change, how Muslims are referenced, and that the books don't focus on Christianity's impact on the founding of America.

And since they are of the largest schoolbook buyers it affects the rest of the US.
