this reminds me, i need to check our car kit in the trunk.

we don't carry around a ton of stuff, just a blanket (plus a couple of those foil blankets), flashlight, candle and matches, extra hats, mitts, socks (which get used once or twice a winter if we end up being outside more than we expected and weren't really dressed right), etc. but i definitely need to put in some new power bars and chocolate. (we throw them out in the spring.)
oh, and we put in new glow-string necklaces every year (i give the last year's to my friends' kids)... i figure if your car breaks down and you have to walk on some dark road some night, you can use them to make yourself way more visible - plus you could put them in car windows to help make your car visible too..
