one of the articles I read was a home owner with a power line sparking on a tree on their property - and the power company couldn't put it out with

water so they had to watch it - and eventually it fell and got downgraded from a fire hazard to being just a tree on a power line again ... but for 15 minutes or so - they were waiting to see if fire was going to require them to evacuate
that kind of story for my part of the country is a reason for a "go bag" ... I mean - we don't have hurricanes or toronados ... and snow usually means you're housebound and maybe without power ... or if in your car - even worse off - but yeah ... being prepared is different for us - because it so rarely happens
