I think the person with the larger trading radius can trade with someone with a smaller trading radius.

can you tell I almost never trade?
I think as long as one of you can "see" the other and see the trade goods offer then it's fine. In other words if I have a trade radius of 5 and see that you have something I want to purchase I can go pick it up. The transaction is not dependent on you being able to see me say for example of your radius was 3.
